Aegina is known to be the island that produces and grows the best pistachio nuts. This is most definitely true and there are little stores set up across the town that offers the best produce that there is.

What is great about this is that the locals sell incredible pistachio butter, which is soft and smooth, candied pistachios which are subtly sweet, pistachio ice cream that is refreshing and creamy, as well as other savoury and sweet products that you would have never known to exist.

It is a fish restaurant called Agora, that has small and large plates of fresh fish and seafood, as well as fresh vegetables.

When it comes to just wanting to snack or have some drinks, then you should stop by Avli, which means garden in English. It is hidden away in a narrow street, deep inside the town.

However, it’ll catch your attention right away, since it is beautifully decorated with a turquoise blue painting on the outside and if has white washed chairs on the inside.

Aegina town does have beaches, but they are not as good as other beaches across the island. The reason for this is because it is mostly a port, rather than it being somewhere by the sea. For the best beaches, you should visit Perdika and Moni island, as well as Marathon and Agia Marina.
