If you struggle to sleep during long haul flights or if you want to avoid jet lag, then check out these tips.
1. Bore yourself to sleep
When we put on a series or film that we enjoy watching, we cannot stop. You’d most likely end up watching it all and then you are wide awake until the break of dawn.
It is best to do the opposite and watch something you find utterly boring, that way it can help you slowly get into a trance where you will eventually fall asleep. Another great tip is to listen to some soothing music, nothing that is too intense or upbeat.
2. Sleeping pillow
There has always been a time and a place where you are travelling and you drift off to sleep, but you end up napping on a strangers shoulder.
The best way to avoid this is to invest in a comfortable and soft sleeping pillow for travelling. It can help your posture, cause less pains for your neck and you don’t have to face the awkward situation of falling asleep on someone’s shoulder.
3. Get something to read
Electronic devices actually keep you awake, which is the reason why you might be staying up all night. If you purchase a book or a magazine, it can help you go to sleep. You can buy an e book or go to your local book shop.
4. Herbal teas
Herbal teas such as chamomile tea can actually help you go to sleep. There is an antioxidant called apigenin that is in chamomile tea and it basically helps decrease your anxiety and help you sleep.
You can also get herbal teas specifically to help you sleep from your local pharmacies.
5. Ear plugs
Ear plugs can help you filter out the external noise that is preventing you from sleeping. This is great if your hotel or holiday apartment is in a noisy neighbourhood or if you are on the plane and it is super noisy around you.
