Athens is a beautiful city that is a concrete jungle, combined with greenery and ancient monuments.
Tourists flock every year to this capital and stay for a couple of days, before they head off to the port in Pireaus and explore the Greek islands nearby.
However, this capital isn’t only busy during the summer; it is a popular destination for all seasons.

Ano Kipseli (Άνω Κυψέλη)
Get ready for a lot of walking, but the view is worth it. The closest train station you can get off is at Victoria or Agios Nikolaos.
Ano Kipseli is a beautiful, quiet neighbourhood that has a lot of hilltops.
As you pass by each street in order to climb to the top, you will see a taster of what the final view has to offer. It is like the Greek version of San Francisco, only without trams.

If you’re in the mood for some hiking, then you should definitely visit Attiko Alsos. It is actually in between Galatsi and Ano Kipseli, depending on which area you’re coming from.
It can take up to an hour to walk if you don’t want to drive or get a taxi. The view is a sight to see, as you view the whole city, sea and islands in the horizon.

Koukaki is a neighbourhood that is just next to Acropolis. It is a great location to rent out a holiday home; since it is very central and it also has cute bars and restaurants with family style meals.
However, as you walk up the hill tops of Koukaki, you can also see a picturesque view of the city. It really does make a difference; since you’re away from the busy crowds and can enjoy the view all by yourself.

As you walk up the hill tops of koukaki and head left, you will find yourself in the back streets of Thiseio.
You will feel like you have escaped Athens momentarily, since the architecture will remind you of a quiet, suburban, town.
You will also find some attractive views of the city, whilst being able to explore this quiet neighbourhood.

Philopappos Hill has an ancient monument at the very top of the hill. It has had some notoriety over the years, since it was a perfect location to commit crime.
However, due to the fact that there is a tough police force at the foot of the hill, it is now loved by locals as a location to hang out at.
What a lot of people don’t know however, is that there is a pathway way to the hill top that links you to a cliff top. This cliff top can offer you some stunning sunsets, as well as a cool location for an outdoor picnic.
