Experience the taste of Thailand without needing to travel.
Many different cuisines are rapidly rising in the city of Athens; especially Thai food.
Tuk Tuk Thai Street Food has been open for less than a year, but it is very popular amongst the locals and travellers who come to visit Greece.
As you pass by, your eyes are instantly fixed on the bamboo counter outside with many different ornaments that represent the culture of Thailand. The place is small, with a couple of table’s and one large counter; where your food is being prepared right in front of you.
Regardless of the restaurant being small, there is a constant queue outside with people eagerly waiting to encounter their first or second experience at Tuk Tuk.
The menu most certainly covers your cravings, curiosities or nostalgic feelings from Thailand.
From cold to hot plates, small dishes and appetizers; this menu has a variety of choices to choose from. There are also known classics such as pad Thai noodles, green Thai curry and red Thai curry.
You also have the opportunity to try dishes that will tickle your taste buds for the first time, such as Karipap Gai or Gai-Yang, Thai boxing chicken.
What really attracts people to this place is not just the decoration of Lanterns hanging from above, along with dimmed lighting and traditional ornaments on each table; but it is the way the food is served.
When ordering hot plate’s, the sticky rice is served in small straw baskets with lids on made from bamboo, which is called a teeneung khao neow. Not only that, but the curries are served in traditional, metallic large bowls that you can share between two people.
On top of that, the food made is by Thai chef’s and Greek chef’s who are trained to make traditional Thai food. It ticks all the boxes of the authentic taste and the flavour food profiles that you’re looking for; making each dish stand out.
Tuk Tuk Thai Street food is definitely worth visiting if you enjoy spicy flavour food profile’s and light dishes. It is ideal to go with one other person rather than a big group, since the space is limited inside.
